Material Developed and
Complied by Kathi Stringer
The following material was developed in 2005 as a HANDOUT to
increase insight for members of the Riverside County Mental
Health Board, AND for individuals that want better Mental Health
Services. This material is useful for LEGAL ARGUMENTS and
to get COMPLIANCE to make change toward Quality Improvement
(QI). In other words - TO - GET - THE - JOB -DONE.
Also, the last page is a list of the top 75 people that were put
into restraints between the year 2000 to 2004, AND how many
times each of them have been restrained during a single
hospitalization. The message was, "THIS HAS GOT TO STOP
HERE AND NOW. And as time went forward, because this information
was visited and revisited during many mental health board
meetings and many quality improvement committee meetings, and
many person-to-person meetings, there has been significant
improvement and reduction in the use of restraints.
For those looking for a template on how to get better mental
health services through quality improvement, the following
documents are here for that reason.
