Quilters
are a special breed of people, says Butterfly Fabrics owner Barbara
Willis. So, when the call went out in January to make quilts for kids
who are hurting, an army of volunteers sat down to sew.
Thirty women created 63 quilts that they donated to the local chapter of
Project Linus, a nonprofit group that distributes blankets and quilts to
seriously ill or traumatized children and teenagers through local help
agencies.
Willis encouraged quilters to donate in January and February by entering each donor in a drawing to win a new Janome sewing machine. Judy Boehmke, who donated two hand-made quilts, won the machine.
