I
could have left it alone, yet, if she was innocent, by the grace of God, it
could have been me. That hooked me.
I was curious and skeptical. I was
curious enough to continue asking questions, and skeptical to the point that
if I asked a few questions, I would be satisfied she was guilty and move
on. I figured this would be a short-term project, and that I would satisfy
my conscious that at least I looked into it, putting the nagging guilt
complex to rest.
I wrote letters to
Gary McDaniel, (a
private detective that was successful in helping prove her son's innocence, in
1999). Gary was reluctant to spend the time educating yet another person on
her case that would probably lose interest and therefore waste his time, as
happened
in the past. I kept writing and finally Gary began working with me. Cocurrently, I contacted
Jan, who is
Ginny's life support in hope, love and
prayer.
In the mean time, I also got in touch
with Ginny
on death row, and began asking her hundreds and hundreds of
questions. It seemed like with every question she answered, it lead to many
more. Things didn't add up. After several months, my appetite grew beyond
anything that Ginny
was able to supply me with. I wanted something more
concrete.
I contacted the court clerks office and
sent over $2000 for copies of court transcripts, life insurance policies,
financial records, canceled checks, tapes, pictures, videos and much more.
I wrote the FDLE (Florida's
version of the FBI) and got their records. End the end; I had thousands of
pages of evidence. For months, I meticulously studied, read, reread,
outlined, and examined every single document to find clear convincing
evidence concerning
Ginny's guilt. I found none.
Yeah, I read, found out and put together
some pieces of Ginny's
life that she is not proud of. Yet, it would be
a gross injustice to murder her for her mistakes. Geez, we've all made
mistakes.
Instead of this information leading to
her guilt, another disturbing picture began to unravel. Detective work from
one document contradicted another. Evidence was 'lost' or disregarded that
would support her innocence by the police. The records reflect the only 2
witnesses that testified against her were liars. Their court transcripts
give subtle clues as to the inconstancy of their stories. There is much
more. Please ready the 'Fast Facts' to bring you up to speed.
I felt a warrior for
Ginny. I'd read
more documents under intense scrutiny than an army of attorneys had read.
However, there is a dark side of advocating for an innocent person on death
row. What I'm about to say,
Ginny knows all too well.
No one in the system seems to
care once a person is convicted. Time comes to a stand still.
The 'guilty' is separated and untouchable. Locked away into
the deep crevices of nomads land. Even in the face of
clear and convincing evidence, it is of little value. First,
you have to get someone to listen. No one really does.

Even
her state paid appeal attorneys get shifted around once they are familiar
with the case. Then, the new guy has to start all over. Important
information gets lost in the process. The system wears a person down. It
drowns them in a sea of disappointment.
Ginny
has seen a lot of her
supporters except Jan and Gary come and go because of a system that turns a
deaf ear to their efforts. Even myself was burned out from facing her
ongoing disappointment. I too distanced myself. Not from
Ginny, but rather
from her association of a system that sucked the life out of hope. To think
of Ginny
meant to be reminded of a hopeless world. However, I've finally
come around again. I am here for
Ginny, even in the face of a severe and
hopeless taskmaster. I am here because by the grace of God, it could happen
to you or me.
So, if you've come here looking for the
truth about Ginny, you can find it if you are willing to invest the time.
Yet, finding the truth is the easy part, it is what you will do with the
truth that is much harder in the face of a cold, indifferent and seemingly
paralyzed system. Kathi Stringer

Fast Facts
Virginia Larzelere awaits death under her sentence in a Florida state
prison. We need your help so an innocent woman can escape death by poisonous
needle or electrocution.
In mid January we were surfing the Internet when we came across a story about
Virginia. We read the fragmented material and decided to investigate her case because she was
running out of time.
Like you, we do not believe everything we read on the Internet. So we decided
to do our own investigation. We reviewed hundreds of documents, court transcripts and empirical evidence and interviewed her lawyers and
friends.
What we have found supports her innocence. But we cannot save her alone. We need
your help. Following are some highlights of what we found:
The media sensationalized this case from its inception with useful
headlines that sell papers rather then the pursuit of truth.
Laurie Goering of the Chicago Tribune writes recently that Florida
has reversed the convictions of 20 Death Row inmates, more than any other state
in the nation. She says that "Many of the inmates were released from Death
Row on evidence of prosecutorial errors, lying by witnesses or confessions by
others." The Tribune article states that last year, 75 percent of the
death-penalty cases brought before the appeals court were overturned, and that Florida has by far the largest
numbe r of Death Row cases where
an inmate was granted a new trial either because prosecutors withheld evidence
suggesting innocence or because they knowingly used false evidence. In part
because of such problems, says the Tribune, Florida's
reversal rate of Death Row convictions on direct appeal averages almost 50
percent, according to the American Bar Association. Recently retired Supreme Court Judge Gerald
Kogan, now president
of the Miami Alliance for Ethical Government, is quoted as saying, "We have
innocent people on Death Row. I don't know how many, but anybody who understands the
justice system knows innocent people are convicted every day."
Police were zealous to find the "murderer" because of political
pressure, and acted on what was best for them rather than the evidence. They
had their own preconceived notions from the moment they arrived on the murder
scene and examined only the "evidence" that fit their theories.
Police admit in transcripts of taped interviews that Virginia offered
them the killer's DNA, the fresh blood and skin from under her nails
minutes after they arrived. She had contact with the
killer. Yet, police refused to take skin samples from her saying they
could not use them. This is very disturbing since this evidence would have cleared her.
They were not interested.
On
the day of the murder police lied on a Supplementary Report for case
building and then again days later on other documents and finally
police
lied to a Judge to get a search warrant. They found nothing.
Despite the biased media coverage, the court did not change the
venue as is commonly done.
The prosecutors elicited information from immunized witnesses
(witness who escaped prosecution on other pending criminal cases in return for their
testimony) who fabricated responses to fit police theories while under duress.
Her conviction was based
on what these people said--not physical evidence.
Virginia's defense
attorney's did not summon the 40-plus defense
witnesses available. Instead, they brought the trial to conclusion after only
four-five minutes of defense testimony.
People possibly involved in the murder could not keep their stories
straight. They also enjoyed bragging about their participation in the crime.
Virginia's complaints about her attorney proved correct when he was
convicted for perjury, embezzlement and drug money laundering.
He is now serving an
54 month sentence.
We
have read media hype that Virginia took out 7 separate insurance polices
that would give the reader the impression she went behind Norm's back and
collected policies from whom ever would give them to her. The facts
are here.
Because of all of the above, Virginia was convicted through the
efforts of prosecutor misconduct, jury infractions and prejudice.
A writer who claims to have investigated this case wrote a
book
that is biased and ignored evidence in Virginia's favor. At first glance the
book appears authentic and takes advantage of the unguarded curious reader.
However, our examination of the book and the evidence showed that the book is
hugely inconsistent with actual court testimony and FBI lab reports.
In sum, we discovered through careful examination that the truth was not heard by the jury. As a result, an innocent woman will die without
your help.
Time is short and her life
is at stake.
